What's free
The Copilot app (formerly Bing Chat) is free at copilot.microsoft.com and in the Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android apps. It answers questions with web results, writes and summarizes text, and creates images within daily limits. Signing in with a Microsoft account keeps your chat history.
What you pay for
Copilot built into Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook comes with Microsoft 365 Personal and Family for the subscription owner, with higher limits in Microsoft 365 Premium ($19.99/month), which replaced the standalone Copilot Pro in late 2025. The work version, Microsoft 365 Copilot, is separate and priced per user.
