How to add the subtitles to your video

  • YouTube: Studio → Subtitles → your video → Add language → Upload file → With timing, then pick the SRT.
  • Premiere Pro / DaVinci Resolve / CapCut desktop: import the SRT as a caption track and drag it onto your timeline.
  • Vimeo and web players: upload the VTT file as a text track.

Tips for clean captions

  • Pick the language yourself for the best timing and spelling.
  • Use Most accurate for music in the background or several speakers.
  • Keep lines short when editing: about 42 characters per line is the usual standard.

Why make captions at all?

Captions make videos watchable on mute, help viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing, and give search engines text to understand your video. Uploading your own SRT to YouTube is also usually more accurate than automatic captions, because you can correct it first.

Questions

What's the difference between SRT and VTT?

Both are plain-text subtitle files with timings. SRT is the most widely supported (YouTube, Facebook, video editors). VTT is the web standard used by HTML5 players and Vimeo.

Can it translate the subtitles?

It writes captions in the spoken language. To translate, paste the caption lines into our free AI translator.

Do I need to sign up?

No. There's no account, no watermark and no time limit.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The audio is extracted and transcribed in your browser. The video never leaves your device.
